Mrs Cath Shipton

Chair of Governors – Cath Shipton

Cath had been a parent governor since 2000 before becoming Chair of Governors in 2004,

Cath sits on the following committee

  • Performance Management (HT)
  • What experience does Cath bring to Governing our school?

Cath owns and runs a local community social enterprise business delivering childcare across Warrington. Her current role enables her to be involved with many community projects locally and regionally. She has a wealth of financial experience having also worked for Barclays Bank for 25 years. Having been involved in governance for many years, she has an excellent understanding of what is expected from a governing body

Through both her current role and her governor role, Cath is able to access a wide range of relevant training which she readily shares with others.  Being involved in her current role with a number of primary schools, Cath is able to gather an abundance of ideas of ‘good practices.’

About me

I have 3 children who have all been educated at Woolston Community Primary School, all have gone on to forge successful careers in their chosen fields. I feel that this is as a direct result of their early education at Woolston Community Primary School.

Having been involved in the governing body for many years, I have seen lots of changes, including the new school build process some years ago and also when the school was awarded ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in 2009. I have every confidence that as a school we are well on our way to regaining this status, this is due to the hard work and dedication that continues each and every day by every single member of the team at Woolston Community Primary School.
